Gumotex Palava – Inflatable Canoe

The Gumotex Palava is supplied with two sturdy wooden seat boards as well as two thigh straps, which provide better support and increased control on moving water. Standard equipment also includes a repair kit for minor damage, a valve wrench for the push-push valves and a sponge for removing splash water.

The package is completed by a robust, waterproof transport bag with a capacity of 100 litres, allowing the Palava and all accessories to be stored securely and carried comfortably. This means the kayak is fully equipped and ready for use straight out of the box, making it well suited for tours on rivers and lakes.

In addition to basic equipment such as a paddle, personal flotation device and a suitable air pump, a canoe trolley is especially recommended for the Gumotex Palava. It allows the relatively light but longer canoe to be transported comfortably from the car to the water, which is particularly useful on longer access paths or uneven ground.

Paddlers who often travel solo will also benefit from using a high-quality double-bladed paddle. With a double paddle, the Palava responds more precisely, allowing for more balanced propulsion and easier course control.

The Gumotex Palava can be inflated within just a few minutes using a powerful air pump, making it quick and easy to get on the water. Before inflation, the two seat boards are installed to ensure the kayak holds its shape properly.

The Palava features a three-chamber construction consisting of a floor chamber and two side chambers, each equipped with easy-to-use push-push valves. All three chambers are inflated to an operating pressure of 0.2 bar.

The Gumotex Palava can be paddled flexibly by one, two or three people. When used solo, the canoe offers a large amount of storage space for gear, making it ideal for multi-day trips with camping equipment. With two paddlers, there is still ample room for touring gear without compromising paddling comfort.

Use with three people is also possible, although the interior space becomes noticeably more limited and is therefore better suited to shorter distances. For the three-person configuration, an additional centre seat is required, which is available separately. Thanks to the adjustable seating positions, the Palava can be adapted well to different weight distributions and intended uses.

The Gumotex Palava is particularly well suited for tours on fast-flowing rivers and light whitewater sections (WW III), where its agile hull shape and high level of stability come into their own. It can also be paddled reliably on flatwater stretches and calm lakes, although its open canoe-style design makes it slower than slimmer Gumotex touring kayaks in these conditions.

Thanks to its robust material, high load capacity and flexible seating configuration, the Palava is an excellent choice for family outings as well as gear-heavy tours and weekend trips. This gives it a wide range of uses, from relaxed day paddles to longer river journeys with fully loaded equipment.

The Gumotex Palava is made from high-quality Nitrilon®, a very robust and abrasion-resistant multi-layer fabric specifically developed for use in demanding water conditions. The material is highly resistant to UV exposure, temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress, making it ideal for rocky rivers, frequent landings and longer trips with loaded gear.

Welded seams ensure long-lasting airtightness, while the reinforced floor structure provides additional protection. With regular care, a quick rinse after use and dry storage, the Palava stands out for its exceptional durability and remains reliably in shape even after many seasons of use. This makes it one of the most durable inflatable canoes in its class.

Despite its length when fully inflated, the Gumotex Palava folds down into a very compact package. The included 100-litre transport bag easily accommodates the canoe along with its accessories and can be carried comfortably thanks to the integrated shoulder straps.

With a weight of around 17.5 kg, the Palava is light enough to be transported by one person, whether from the car to the shoreline or over short walking distances. Its compact packed size allows it to fit easily into a car boot or the storage compartment of a larger camper van, making it well suited for travel, camping trips and flexible weekend tours.
