Overview & On-Water Performance

The Gumotex Rush 2 combines a classic air chamber system with a stiff dropstitch floor, resulting in a hydrodynamically efficient hull shape. This construction delivers high rigidity, reliable tracking, and a calm, composed paddling feel. On the water, the Rush 2 offers an impressive balance of speed, stability, and manoeuvrability – especially for a tandem inflatable kayak of this length.

Use Cases & Handling

Thanks to its well-balanced hull design, the Rush 2 feels at home on a wide range of waters. On lakes, it paddles smoothly and predictably, while on rivers up to Whitewater Class II it benefits from good manoeuvrability and control. The dropstitch technology supports both straight-line performance and responsive handling.

Its versatile construction makes the Rush 2 suitable for everything from relaxed day trips to more dynamic touring on larger bodies of water.

Setup, Comfort & Features

The Rush 2 inflates quickly and, thanks to its moderate weight, is easy to handle on land as well. The comfortable seats and adjustable footrests provide an ergonomic seating position, ensuring a high level of comfort even on longer paddling distances.

Thanks to the well-designed seat mounting system, the kayak can be converted from a tandem into a single kayak in just a few steps – ideal for paddlers who want to switch flexibly between solo and two-person use.

Material & Build Quality

The hybrid construction of classic air chambers combined with a dropstitch floor gives the Rush 2 its characteristic stiffness and durability. The outer skin is robust, UV-resistant, and easy to maintain. Its surface dries quickly and can be cleaned without effort, making the kayak particularly practical for regular use.

The high material quality ensures a long service life, even with frequent paddling.

Model Update & Conclusion

With its flexible seating system and the option to add accessories such as a removable cockpit cover or a rudder system, the Rush 2 is an exceptionally versatile inflatable kayak. Whether paddled solo or tandem, on calm lakes, near the coast, or on rivers up to Whitewater Class II, the Rush 2 offers impressive adaptability.

Paddlers looking for a comfortable, convertible, and highly versatile dropstitch kayak will find the Gumotex Rush 2 to be an excellent all-round touring companion.

Gumotex Rush 2 – Questions & Answers

What accessories are included with the Gumotex Rush 2?

The Gumotex Rush 2 comes with two seats and two inflatable footrests, allowing for a comfortable and individually adjustable seating position. The included fin significantly improves directional stability and supports reliable straight-line tracking – especially on lakes and wider rivers.

Also included in the standard package are a repair kit for minor damage, a valve wrench, a sponge for cleaning, and a waterproof 100-litre transport bag. With this equipment, the Rush 2 is fully outfitted and ready to launch right away.

Which additional accessories are recommended for the Gumotex Rush 2?

For the Gumotex Rush 2, the single and double cockpit covers are particularly recommended. They allow the open kayak to be converted into a closed boat, offering clear advantages on longer tours or in splashy conditions. Depending on your needs, the Rush 2 can be used flexibly as a solo or tandem kayak.

The Rush 2 truly reaches its full potential with the optional rudder system. It improves straight-line tracking and makes manoeuvring noticeably easier in wind or current, especially on larger bodies of water, where it significantly increases efficiency.

In addition, we recommend essential accessories such as paddles, a suitable air pump, and a personal flotation device. For carrying the kayak between the car and the launch point, a canoe trolley is particularly practical and makes transporting the Rush 2 much easier.

How long does it take to set up the Gumotex Rush 2?

The Gumotex Rush 2 is ready to use in just a few minutes, making it ideal for spontaneous paddling trips. The two side chambers are inflated to 0.25 bar, while the stiff dropstitch floor is inflated to 0.5 bar. All three air chambers feature easy-to-use Push-Push valves, allowing for quick and straightforward setup.

It is important to install the fin before inflation. It slides into the guide on the underside of the Rush 2 and later significantly improves directional stability.

Thanks to the clearly arranged valve layout and the stable dropstitch structure, the Rush 2 is easy to set up even for beginners and ready to launch after just a few pump strokes.

How many people can the Gumotex Rush 2 accommodate, and what is the seating configuration?

The Gumotex Rush 2 can be used flexibly as a single or tandem kayak. When paddled solo, it offers plenty of space for gear, making it an excellent choice for longer tours or weekend trips. With two paddlers, there is still sufficient room for day gear, while the kayak maintains its stable and balanced handling.

Due to its relatively low-profile design, very tall paddlers should be aware that legroom in the Rush 2 can feel somewhat limited – especially when a cockpit cover is fitted. Those who need more space in the front area may be better served by the Gumotex Seawave or Gumotex Seashine, as both models feature higher decks and offer noticeably more legroom.

What types of water and paddling conditions is the Gumotex Rush 2 suitable for?

The Gumotex Rush 2 is a highly versatile kayak, suitable for a wide range of waters. On lakes and wide rivers, it impresses with a stable position on the water and calm, reliable straight-line tracking. At the same time, the Rush 2 shows surprisingly agile turning characteristics thanks to its flat floor, making it easy to manoeuvre on smaller, winding rivers as well.

The kayak also performs well in light whitewater (WW II), as long as conditions are not too powerful. In this environment, the Rush 2 benefits from the combination of dropstitch stiffness and a responsive hull shape. It is not designed for demanding or technical whitewater, however.

How durable and hard-wearing is the Gumotex Rush 2?

The Gumotex Rush 2 is made from durable NITRILON® material, known for its high abrasion resistance, UV stability, and long service life. The stiff dropstitch floor further enhances the hull structure, improving both paddling performance and overall durability.

Thanks to the combination of robust materials and modern dropstitch construction, the Rush 2 remains reliable and shape-retentive even with frequent use. The smooth surface is easy to clean and dries quickly – a clear advantage for paddlers who use their kayak regularly and prefer low-maintenance care.

How can the Gumotex Rush 2 be transported and stored?

After the tour, the Gumotex Rush 2 can be folded down compactly and stored in the included 100-litre transport bag. Despite its length, the kayak remains surprisingly manageable and can be transported easily in a car, camper van, or even stored in an apartment.

For longer walks to the launch point, a canoe trolley is recommended – especially when carrying additional gear or camping equipment. Thanks to its moderate weight and compact packed size, the Rush 2 is also well suited for holidays and multi-day trips.
