Overview & On-Water Performance
The Gumotex Seashine is Gumotex’s new dropstitch touring kayak, combining a very stiff construction with a subtle, continuous keel. This dropstitch keel provides noticeably better tracking than conventional flat dropstitch floors, allowing the Seashine to glide efficiently, hold its line well, and deliver a sporty, responsive paddling feel.
The kayak can be paddled open or converted into a closed kayak with the optional single or double cockpit. For touring on lakes and larger bodies of water, the Seashine offers an excellent balance of rigidity, stability, and comfort.
Use Cases & Handling
The Seashine performs best on lakes, calm rivers, and wide stretches of water where good tracking and efficient glide are essential. Thanks to its dropstitch keel, it tracks significantly better than many other inflatable kayaks in its class.
With two paddlers, the kayak feels particularly well-balanced and comfortable, while solo paddling also benefits from its stability and efficient waterline. Its length makes it ideal for day trips and longer outings. On rivers, the Seashine also performs well, though its length makes it slightly less manoeuvrable on very narrow or winding creeks.
Setup, Comfort & Features
Setting up the Gumotex Seashine takes only a few minutes, as both the boat and the seats use the same easy-to-handle Push-Push valves. The completely newly developed seats are among the most comfortable in the entire Gumotex range, offering an ergonomic and well-supported seating position. With a single or double cockpit, the Seashine can be converted into a closed kayak – ideal for wind, rain, or cooler temperatures.
At the bow and stern, the Seashine features small deck covers, with the rear one equipped with a waterproof zipper. A rudder system can be mounted at the stern, while an additional fin can be fitted at the bow. This allows the kayak to be tailored precisely to your preferred paddling conditions.
Material & Build Quality
Like all Gumotex boats, the Seashine is made from proven NITRILON® material – robust, UV-resistant, abrasion-resistant, and built to last. The dropstitch floor is further protected by a continuous keel strip, improving durability on stony or gravelly shorelines.
The material dries quickly and packs down compactly, making the Seashine ideal for transport by camper van, car, or train.
Model Update & Conclusion
As a completely new model in the Gumotex range, the Seashine combines modern dropstitch technology with the proven strengths of classic Gumotex inflatable kayaks. Its strong tracking, versatile configuration, and newly developed seats make it an excellent touring kayak for one or two adults – with the option of paddling with a child as a third passenger.
Anyone looking for a stiff, efficient, and comfortable dropstitch touring kayak that performs equally well solo or tandem will find the Gumotex Seashine to be a modern and compelling alternative to traditional inflatable kayaks.
