Gumotex Safari – Inflatable Kayak

The Gumotex Safari is supplied with a seat and an adjustable footrest, providing good control in whitewater conditions. The included fin noticeably improves directional stability, especially on short flatwater sections.

Standard equipment also includes a repair kit for minor fixes, a valve wrench and a sponge for basic cleaning. A waterproof transport bag with a volume of 80 litres makes it easy to carry the folded kayak safely and conveniently.

In addition to classic accessories such as a paddle, pump and personal flotation device, a compact canoe trolley is also recommended for the Gumotex Safari. It allows the whitewater kayak to be transported comfortably and with minimal strain from the launch point back to the vehicle, especially when access paths are longer.

The Gumotex Safari is quick to set up and can be inflated within just a few minutes using a suitable air pump. The first step is fitting the fin, which is slid into the mounting bracket on the underside of the hull before inflation, helping to improve straight-line tracking on the water.

The three air chambers are then inflated: one floor chamber and two side chambers, all equipped with easy-to-use push-push valves. All chambers reach their operating pressure of 0.2 bar quickly, allowing the kayak to be ready for use almost immediately.

The Gumotex Safari is a compact solo inflatable kayak designed for one paddler. Its open, sporty layout provides plenty of freedom of movement in the seating area, which is especially beneficial in moving water.

There is also some storage space available behind the seat, allowing for the transport of light gear and making longer day trips possible.

The Gumotex Safari is designed as a short whitewater inflatable kayak and shows its strengths especially on small, fast-flowing rivers and in whitewater up to class III. Integrated self-bailing holes in the floor allow incoming splash water to drain quickly, which is a key advantage in moving water.

The Safari can also be paddled on calm water. However, due to its short hull shape optimised for whitewater use, it does not track as efficiently as longer touring kayaks. Paddlers who spend most of their time on lakes or wide rivers may therefore prefer the Gumotex Swing 1, which offers significantly better straight-line performance.

The Gumotex Safari is made from proven NITRILON® material, known for its high abrasion resistance, UV stability and long service life. In whitewater conditions, durability is especially important, and this is where the Safari stands out with its tough outer skin and solid construction, handling occasional contact with rocks or the riverbed with confidence.

With proper care, including thorough drying, cleaning and protected storage, the material remains reliable and ready for use over many years.

Thanks to its low weight and compact packed size, the Gumotex Safari is easy to transport, making it ideal for spontaneous whitewater trips or tours with minimal gear. After drying, the kayak can be folded down and stored in the included transport bag.

The open design allows it to dry quickly, which makes packing up straightforward. The Safari can also be transported without difficulty in a car or on public transport.
