Gumotex Twist 2/1 – Inflatable Kayak

The Gumotex Twist 2/1 comes with everything needed to get on the water straight away. The kayak is supplied with two seats and an adjustable footrest, allowing for comfortable use in both one-person and two-person configurations.

The included fin significantly improves tracking and helps the Twist 2/1 maintain a clean, straight course despite its compact length. Standard equipment also includes a repair kit, a valve wrench and a sponge for cleaning.

For transport, the kayak can be packed into the lightweight fabric bag, making it ideal for travel, camping, train journeys or trips where space is limited.

The Gumotex Twist 2/1 is already equipped with everything needed to get on the water straight away. For increased comfort and improved performance, however, additional accessories can be worthwhile.

For longer tours, lightweight paddles, a reliable pump and well-fitting personal flotation devices are recommended. As the kayak is very compact and light, a canoe trolley is also a practical addition, allowing the Twist 2/1 to be transported comfortably from the car to the launch point without having to carry it.

The Gumotex Twist 2/1 is quick to set up, making it ideal for spontaneous outings. With a suitable air pump, inflation usually takes just a few minutes.

The kayak features a three-chamber construction consisting of a floor chamber and two side chambers. All chambers are equipped with easy-to-use push-push valves and are inflated to 0.2 bar. Thanks to the kayak’s relatively low volume, inflation is fast and straightforward.

It is important to insert the fin before inflating, as it sits tightly in place once the chambers are fully pressurised. After that, the seats are positioned, the footrest is installed and the Twist 2/1 is ready to launch.

The Gumotex Twist 2/1 can be paddled either solo or with two people. When used solo, the kayak offers surprisingly generous storage space, making it suitable even for multi-day trips with light gear.

When paddled by two people, however, the available space is noticeably more limited. It works well for relaxed day trips, but for longer tours or larger paddlers it can feel quite tight. Those who plan to paddle regularly as a pair are better suited to the Gumotex Solar, which offers significantly more comfort and load capacity.

The Gumotex Twist 2/1 is ideal for touring on calm lakes and wide rivers, where its high level of stability and easy handling really stand out.

Smaller, more lively rivers can also be paddled with the Twist 2/1, although its open design allows noticeably more water to enter compared to models with a deck. For regular use on more dynamic water, closed kayaks or models with an optional cockpit are therefore a better choice.

The Gumotex Twist 2/1 is made from proven NITRILON® material, which is also used across many other Gumotex models. It offers good abrasion resistance, UV stability and is significantly more durable than simple PVC inflatable boats. For calm water, lakes and relaxed river touring, the material provides a very solid foundation and handles typical contact with shorelines, gravel or light ground contact well.

Thanks to its simple, open construction, there are only a few components subject to wear, making the kayak low-maintenance and easy to care for. Proper drying after use, shaded storage and protection from prolonged UV exposure are key to long service life. With the right care, the Gumotex Twist 2/1 can remain a reliable companion on the water for many years.

Thanks to its low weight and compact packed size, the Twist 2/1 is particularly easy to transport. When folded, it fits comfortably into the included fabric bag and can be stored in any car boot without difficulty.

For getting to the water, a canoe trolley is recommended, especially when carrying additional gear. At home, the kayak is also easy to store — keep it dry, slightly opened, and protected from direct UV exposure to ensure long-term durability.
