Gumotex Swing 1 – Inflatable Kayak

The Gumotex Swing 1 comes equipped with a comfortable seat and an adjustable footrest, both of which help create a stable and ergonomic seating position while paddling. The included fin significantly improves straight-line tracking and helps the kayak maintain direction, especially on calmer sections of the river.

The Gumotex Swing 1 can be set up in just a few minutes, making it ideal for small rivers and spontaneous paddling trips. Before inflation, the two cross braces are inserted into the designated loops inside the cockpit, and the seat backrest is attached. Once this is done, the kayak can be inflated quickly and without any complicated steps.

The Swing 1 features a three-chamber construction, consisting of a drop-stitch floor and two side chambers. All chambers are equipped with easy-to-use push-push valves and are inflated to a pressure of 0.2 bar. After inflation, the cockpit rim is inserted, giving the cockpit its final shape and ensuring a stable, well-defined opening.

It is important to install the fin before inflating the kayak. The fin slides into the mounting track on the underside of the hull and later improves straight-line tracking and directional stability on the water.

The Gumotex Swing 1 is designed as a true solo inflatable kayak and offers a comfortable and stable seating position for one paddler. Thanks to its relatively high deck and generous interior space, even taller paddlers can sit comfortably inside the kayak. In particular, the footwell provides noticeably more room than on the Gumotex Rush 1, making the Swing 1 a good choice for paddlers with long legs.

The Gumotex Swing 1 is primarily designed for small, fast-flowing rivers and performs best on tours up to whitewater class II. Its closed-deck design helps keep splash water out, while the compact hull length makes the kayak highly manoeuvrable – a clear advantage in tight bends and technical, obstacle-rich sections.

On calm water, the Swing 1 remains easy to paddle, although its shorter waterline makes it slightly slower than longer touring inflatable kayaks. That said, paddlers looking for a lightweight, responsive and river-oriented solo inflatable kayak will find the Swing 1 to be a well-balanced and reliable choice.
