Gumotex Aurion – Inflatable Kayak

The Gumotex Aurion is supplied with one seat and an adjustable footrest. The included fin improves directional stability and supports the kayak’s straight-line tracking. Two metal support bars are also included, stabilising the front and rear deck covers and ensuring a firm, well-defined shape.

Also included are a repair kit for minor damage, a valve wrench, a sponge for cleaning, and a robust 100-litre transport bag.

This means the Gumotex Aurion is fully equipped and ready to use straight away for your first tours.

For the Gumotex Aurion, we especially recommend a suitable spraydeck, which allows the closed cockpit to be fully sealed. This significantly reduces the amount of spray water entering the kayak, which is particularly beneficial on larger bodies of water or in windy conditions.

The Aurion truly reaches its full potential with the optional rudder system. It improves straight-line tracking and makes manoeuvring noticeably easier on longer distances.

In addition, we recommend essential accessories such as a paddle, an air pump, and a personal flotation device. For transporting the kayak from the car to the water, a canoe trolley is also very practical, as it allows the Gumotex Aurion to be moved comfortably and with minimal strain.

With a good air pump, the Gumotex Aurion can be set up within just a few minutes. It consists of three air chambers – one dropstitch floor chamber and two side chambers – all equipped with easy-to-use Push-Push valves. The side chambers are inflated to 0.25 bar, while the dropstitch floor is inflated to 0.5 bar, giving the kayak its high stiffness and sporty paddling feel.

The fin should be inserted before inflation, as it slides into the designated track on the underside of the kayak. Once fitted, it remains securely in place and later supports the Aurion’s excellent tracking performance.

The Gumotex Aurion is designed as a pure single kayak and offers a sporty, slim seating position for one paddler. Thanks to its closed construction and long hull, it provides a generous amount of storage space, making the Aurion ideal for longer day trips and multi-day tours.

Large storage areas are located under both the front and rear decks and can be accessed easily via the waterproof zippers. This allows gear to be stored securely and in an organised manner – a clear advantage for touring paddlers.

The Gumotex Aurion was designed for large rivers and standing waters, where its slim shape and excellent glide can be fully exploited. Especially over longer distances, the kayak impresses with high efficiency and very strong straight-line performance.

The Aurion is less suitable for narrow or shallow creeks, as its length and performance-oriented design limit manoeuvrability. It is also not intended for whitewater use – the kayak is too sensitive to tipping and clearly designed for speed rather than maximum stability.

The Gumotex Aurion is made from durable NITRILON® material, which has been valued for many years for its high abrasion resistance, UV stability, and long service life. The combination of a dropstitch floor and reinforced dropstitch lower sidewalls gives the Aurion a very stiff structure, which becomes especially noticeable on longer tours.

Despite its slim, performance-oriented design, the material remains reliable and dimensionally stable, even with frequent use on lakes and larger rivers. The smooth surface dries quickly and is easy to clean, making the Aurion both low-maintenance and highly durable as a touring kayak.

Once dry, the Gumotex Aurion can be folded down compactly and packed into the included 100-litre transport bag. Thanks to its moderate weight, the kayak is easy to carry and can be transported without any issues in a car, camper van, or luggage compartment.

A canoe trolley is particularly useful if the walk from the car park to the launch site is longer. It allows the Aurion to be moved comfortably even when fully loaded, without putting strain on your back. The slim, closed design also makes it easy to fully drain and dry the kayak after your tour.
