Gumotex Rush 1 – Inflatable Kayak

The Gumotex Rush 1 is supplied with an inflatable seat and an inflatable footrest, allowing for a comfortable and individually adjustable seating position. The included fin significantly improves directional stability and supports efficient straight-line tracking.

Also included are a repair kit for minor damage, a valve wrench, a sponge, and a robust 80-litre transport bag. This means the Gumotex Rush 1 is fully equipped and ready for its first outings on the water.

For the Gumotex Rush 1, the optional cockpit cover is particularly interesting, as it transforms the originally open kayak into a closed boat. This provides additional protection from spray water and makes the Rush 1 more versatile in changing weather conditions.

There is no official rudder system available for this model, as the originally planned version was never released. However, the Rush 1 remains easy to manoeuvre even without a rudder and offers sufficient tracking thanks to the fin.

Additional recommended accessories include essential equipment such as a paddle, an air pump, and a personal flotation device. A canoe trolley is especially practical, as it makes transporting the kayak to the water much easier – particularly when carrying extra gear or camping equipment.

The Gumotex Rush 1 can be set up in just a few minutes, making it ideal for spontaneous trips. It consists of three air chambers – one dropstitch floor chamber and two side chambers – all equipped with easy-to-use Push-Push valves. The side chambers are inflated to 0.25 bar, while the dropstitch floor is inflated to 0.5 bar, giving the kayak its high stiffness and solid on-water performance.

The inflatable seat and inflatable footrest are also ready after just a few pump strokes. It is important to install the fin before inflation, as it slides into the designated track on the underside of the Rush 1 and later improves directional stability and tracking.

The Gumotex Rush 1 is designed as a pure single kayak and offers a sporty, compact seating position for one paddler. For medium-sized paddlers, the cockpit provides sufficient space, but very tall paddlers or those with long legs should be aware that space under the deck is limited.

Especially with the cockpit cover fitted, legroom can feel restricted for taller paddlers. If you need a higher cockpit opening and more space in the front area, the Gumotex Swing 1 is often a better choice, as its deck is cut noticeably higher and offers greater freedom of movement.

The Gumotex Rush 1 is an exceptionally versatile kayak, suitable for a wide range of waters. On lakes and larger rivers, the dropstitch floor provides pleasant straight-line tracking and a safe, controlled paddling feel. At the same time, the Rush 1 benefits from its compact length, making it highly manoeuvrable and easy to handle on smaller, winding rivers.

The Rush 1 also handles light whitewater confidently (WW II), as long as conditions are not too powerful. It is not designed for demanding or technically challenging whitewater, however – in those situations, a shorter, fully closed kayak would be better suited.

The Gumotex Rush 1 is made from proven NITRILON® material, known for its high abrasion resistance, UV stability, and long service life. The dropstitch floor adds an extra level of stiffness, improving both the kayak’s paddling performance and overall durability.

Since the side chambers of the current model are made from classic air chamber material, the Rush 1 remains lighter and easier to handle overall. The smooth surface is quick to clean and dries rapidly – ideal for paddlers who use their kayak frequently and prefer low-maintenance care.

Once dry, the Gumotex Rush 1 can be folded down compactly and stored in the included 80-litre transport bag. Thanks to its low weight, it is easy to carry and fits comfortably in a car, camper van, or even in an apartment.

For longer walks to the water or when transporting additional gear, a canoe trolley is recommended. It allows the Rush 1 to be moved particularly comfortably without putting strain on your back. The combination of compact size and low weight makes the Rush 1 a highly travel-friendly kayak.
