Zelgear Steering System 2025

The Zelgear steering system has been completely redesigned over the 2024 season and is now available in a new version. It features the proven rudder blade from the Finnish company kajaksport.fi, which is also used on boats from Gumotex and Nortik. The rudder pin has been adapted to fit Zelgear models, making the system compatible with all Zelgear boats that have a rudder mount.

Differences from the previous steering system

New rudder blade

The old metal rudder blade, which had to be assembled from multiple components, has been replaced with a modern plastic rudder blade. This new version is fully pre-assembled and requires minimal effort to install. Thanks to the lifting line, the rudder can be completely pulled out of the water when not in use.

Easy lifting mechanism

To make it easy to lift the rudder blade out of the water, a lifting line with an integrated pull system is included. This is securely attached to the boat with two metal carabiners and does not need to be removed when disassembling the boat.

New steering lines and guide tubes

The steering lines have also been upgraded and are now supplied by the rope specialist Teufelberger from Wels. To prevent the lines from being pinched by gear or luggage, two black PU tubes are included. Once installed, both the lines and tubes can remain on the boat permanently.

Proven footrest with pedals

This is the only component that remains unchanged, ensuring that the steering system remains an affordable option.
