Zelgear Igla 490

The Zelgear Igla 490 comes with two seats, two foot braces, and two pairs of thigh straps. The included double fin enhances the kayak’s directional stability and maneuverability. Additionally, the package contains a repair kit for minor damage, an air pump, and a transport bag, providing everything you need to store, maintain, and transport your Igla 490 easily.

In addition to essential gear such as a paddle or life vest, we also recommend using a pressure gauge to monitor the kayak’s operating pressure with the Zelgear Igla 490.

A kayak trolley, such as the Eckla Beach Rolly, makes transporting the Igla 490 much easier and helps when carrying it over obstacles. To secure the trolley to the kayak, we offer specially designed D-rings.

The Igla 490 truly reaches its full potential when paired with a rudder system, which significantly improves maneuvering and steering. For additional protection of your gear from splashes, a spray deck designed for the Zelgear Igla 490 can also be purchased.

The Zelgear Igla 490 can be inflated in just a few minutes using the included air pump. Start by inflating the drop-stitch floor to 0.5 bar, then fill the side chambers to 0.25 bar.

The side tubes feature built-in overpressure valves to prevent overinflation. The included seats can be easily inflated by mouth using their screw valves. The supplied double fin is inserted into a sleeve at the stern and secured automatically as the kayak is inflated.

The Zelgear Igla 490 is a kayak designed for one to two paddlers. It provides enough space for two paddlers or for a single paddler with gear, making it suitable for multi-day adventures.

Thanks to its length and excellent straight-line tracking, the Zelgear Igla 490 is especially well suited for lakes and larger rivers.

Like all Igla models, the Zelgear Igla 490 combines durable PVC side chambers with a high-pressure drop-stitch floor. The floor, inflated to 0.5 bar, gives this long touring kayak a very stiff structure, improving both speed and durability.

The side chambers are made from abrasion-resistant, UV-stable PVC, suitable for frequent use on rivers, lakes, and longer tours. A key feature is the removable drop-stitch floor, which can be easily replaced if damaged, keeping the kayak serviceable for years. This makes the Igla 490 one of the most durable two-person touring kayaks in the Zelgear range.

Despite its 490 cm length, the Zelgear Igla 490 packs down surprisingly compactly. The drop-stitch floor can be removed and folded separately, significantly reducing the packed size. Weighing around 20 kg, the kayak remains easy to carry and fits comfortably into the boot of a larger car or a camper van.
